It is made up of three historic neighborhoods, Hollywood Beach, Hollywood by the Sea, and Silver Strand Beach, laid out along a narrow 1.3-mile stretch of the coastal Oxnard Plain between the Channel Islands Harbor and Naval Base Ventura County, looking out at the Santa Barbara Channel.
The subdivisions were recorded in the mid-1920s, Hollywood Beach in 1924, Silver Strand in 1925, and Hollywood by the Sea in 1926, and they were sold using the glamor of Hollywood because the dunes here had been used as film locations.
